Bulb Planting at Moss Side Peace Garden
Did you know Engels, co-author of The Communist Manifesto with Marx, used to live in Moss Side? The house he used to live in has been knocked down, and is now a public green space. Anne Goldrick has been organising some improvements, with raised beds having been built recently by people on probation. Sian Sweeney of the Kath Locke centre had offered some bulbs to plant on the site, so we agreed to provide the leg work.
We had daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops, and bluebells to plant – we think. Three out of four bags originally from the council weren’t labelled, so we may be in for some surprises! As you can see in the pictures there should be some nice shapes that come up too. Given the mild weather, it shouldn’t be long until spring, and we all get to see the results!
